MICF started with a small group of Islanders who were inspired to create an organization to connect people who care about the health and vitality of Mercer Island with causes that matter. MICF’s fund supports programs and services that will meet the needs of the community. Since its founding in 1985, MICF has granted almost $1 million in assets to local organizations.

MICF is committed to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in Mercer Island

Recent local and national events have highlighted a need and desire to address the diversity and inclusiveness of the Mercer Island community. The mission of MICF includes supporting community development and to support a diverse, equitable, and inclusive Mercer Island community.

The MICF board of directors has committed to take action in three specific areas:

  1. Develop our board into a leadership space that is reflective of the diversity in our community and that feels safe and inclusive for people of all backgrounds and identities.

  2. Direct a portion of our grant funds to programs, events and organizations that address issues of diversity and inclusion on Mercer Island.

  3. Collaborate with other community members and organizations to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Mercer Island.

Resources

We are pleased to be able to share the resources related to race, anti-racism, and DEI issues that was compiled by Mercer Island Parent Edge.  Mercer Island Parent Edge, a non-profit organization that is part of the Mercer Island School District PTSA, coordinates events and programs for parents, educators and our community.

Your Impact as a Donor to MICF

As a result of donors investing in Mercer Island through the MICF, we are able to have stronger nonprofits, public arts and cultural programs, quality educational and recreational programming, expanded senior services, parks and green space, and annual community wide events that make a vibrant and healthy community. We achieve this by collaboratively working with donors, individuals and organizations committed to making Mercer Island a great place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
