Mary Ann grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington. She taught at Mercercrest Elementary School, was married at St. Monica’s and soon moved to Montana with her husband, Bruce, for several years.  They returned to MI in 1975 to make a home and start a family.  They raised 3 sons, Ryan, Jason and Erik on Mercer Island.  She also became an avid volunteer, taking on numerous roles in the PTA, MI Schools Foundation Board, MI Country Club Board and Chair of MI Community Center Task Force. As her children headed off to college, she found another area of great interest - health care.  She served on the Boards of Providence Hospital Foundation, Hope Heart Institute and more recently, the Seattle Children’s Hospital Governing Board, serving as Chair of both Quality & Safety and Governance Committees.

Fun Facts - Bruce & Mary Ann have lived on MI for over 45 years. She came to MI when there were 6 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and a high school. She watched the closing of 4 schools and the construction and remodel of others, the expansion of 1-90 and the “Lid”, the loss of a bridge and the building of a new one.  She even attended “Mercervesary” in 1985, when the MICF was conceived. She now enjoys her “senior status”, traveling, hiking, gardening and spending time with family, especially her 8 grandchildren.
