Ralph grew up on Mercer Island and is a graduate of Mercer Island High School. Ralph earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington and recently completed a Masters in Teaching (Mathematics). Ralph;s engineering career included founding an analytical instrumentation company in the field of fiber optic biosensing as well as working for other start-up companies in the fields of cellular imaging, high intensity focused ultrasound and implantable neurological devices. Ralph and his wife Dawn, moved to the Island sixteen years ago and have raised two daughters that have both graduated from MIHS. Ralph has volunteered in the community including helping with school levy and bond campaigns, coaching youth soccer teams, serving on the Sunnybeam Preschool and Mercer Island Country Club Boards, serving on Seattle Children’s Research Institute IACUC Committee and as an elected Mercer Island School District Board Member.
