Sophy Yang

Sophy has lived on MI for over 25 years.  She met her husband Steve, a MI resident since high school, when they both attended the University of Washington.  They love the MI community and easily decided this is the place to raise a family.  Now the kids are in 8th grade and high school junior.

Volunteering in the community, especially with the schools, has always been a priority for Sophy.  She has held numerous PTA and PTSA positions at Lakeridge Elementary, Islander Middle School, and Mercer Island High School. She was also a board member at the Mercer Island Schools Foundation for 8 years.  She helped to bridge fundraising gaps and also reached out to the community to diversify fundraising efforts. 

In her spare time, she enjoys tea and lunch potlucks with her friends, watching her two kids play sports, traveling, and spending time with the family, including Coco, the family dog.
